Subsidy Pricing
General
We would very much like to list different packages for different grades of options with nifty names like “Blue Ribbon,” “Gold,” “Silver,” or “Platinum.” However, these all treat your book impersonally.
The price for publishing your book with Tex Ware Subsidy Publishing is established by determining your goals and aspirations as well as the quality of your manuscript. Therefore each book will be offered a unique contract.
Each Subsidy contract will contain the following features:
- Editing
- Formatting
- Cover Design
- Maximum Distribution - Online and Bookstore Availability
- Library of Congress Control Number (except reprinted works)
- Copyright Filing (if not already copyrighted)
- ISBN
Current rates for editing with other publishers start around $0.0175 per word and go to $0.032 per word or higher. Our costs will generally be less than these.
Fiction
If your book is well written or you would like to simply get it into print with as little cost as possible, we can publish your book for as little as $150.00. If you need editing then you can multiply your word count by the prices above to estimate how much it may cost. Use the lower figure to if it requires little editing and use the higher price.
Non-Fiction
Non-fiction books generally require a lot more effort in formatting as they require footnotes, table of contents, figure, tables, and other features not always found in fiction. As a result the lowest cost is around $500, not including editing. This is especially true of eBooks.
Children’s Books
Illustrated children’s books require more formatting and less editing than fiction. The cost will be as low as $75.00 for a 30-40 page book when illustrations are already provided by you. If you don’t have illustrations, we will charge anywhere from $100.00 to $200.00 per illustration, depending on the style and illustrator selected. You will own the copyright to all illustrations.
Memoir and Scrapbooks
Memoirs with only a few photographs will be priced the same as fiction. Scrapbooks will be priced the same as children’s books.
Royalties
Royalties are based on, the list price of the book, where the book is sold and the cost of printing. The list price is set by you (within certain limitations). The cost of printing is related to the number of pages. The sales outlets take a different percentage of the list price. If you price your book competitively with other books, you will receive royalties between 10% and 40% of the books list price. Sales on Amazon would be about 30%.
eBook royalties are based on the price of the eBook less the seller’s distribution costs. The larger the book, the higher the distribution costs, with illustrated children’s books been the highest. For eBooks priced below $2.99, you would receive approximately 16% royalty. For eBooks of $2.99 or more, you will receive between 30 and 38% of the listed price.
Books which are kept private will not receive any royalties. The only sales will be directly to you.
Author Purchase Prices
You will be able to purchase your own book at a discount. Again, depending on the list price of your book, you will be able to purchase your book at approximately 30% of the list price.
